MEET JOSH McKAY
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free..." - Galatians 5:1
Josh graduated from Auburn in 1998 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and got a job in the wireless industry here in Gwinnett, where he worked as an engineer, technical contract negotiator, went to night school at Georgia State and picked up an MBA along the way.
But his true passion was education, so about 8 years ago, he left the corporate world and started The Test Experts, a tutoring company focused on ACT and SAT prep for high-schoolers. He's trained up a number of other instructors since then but still tutors every day. Every afternoon after school, Josh sits with high-schoolers one-on-one or in small groups and teaches them algebra, physics, or calculus or preps them for the SAT and ACT.
Josh is an engineer; he's negotiated highly technical deals; he's worked with attorneys and consultants and written legal contracts; he's a small business owner and an independent educator. He will bring those problem-solving and analytical skills, those coalition building and technical writing skills to Atlanta to spread the message of faith, family, and freedom.

Josh’s faith is incredibly important to him. He is a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Josh and Jennifer have been members of Cross Pointe Church in Duluth for many years, where they have served as small group leaders and on mission trips. His Judeo-Christian faith shapes his worldview and will influence his public service. Josh will be committed to people of faith.

Conservative family values is another of Josh’s guiding principles. He is a committed husband and father. His wife Jennifer, graduated from Norcross High and University of Georgia and works for TenCate, a local manufacturing company that provides employment for hundreds of Georgians. They have two kids, Joseph (9) and Alice (6 months). Josh coaches Joseph’s flag football team, and he cares for Alice every morning before going to meet his students.

Josh is a small business owner who also has an MBA. He knows the struggles of keeping a small business operational and putting people to work. He will fight to reduce and eventually eliminate the income tax, and he will fight for a minimalist regulatory environment that allows Georgia’s small businesses to thrive.

Josh is the owner of The Test Experts, a K-12 tutoring company with a focus on ACT and SAT prep for high-schoolers. Josh works every day with students, parents, and teachers and understands intimately the support they need. He will be a strong advocate for education at the state capital.
